Welcoming the day with an alpine sun salutation and finding inner peace above the rooftops of Saalbach. Sounds good, right? This is how you start your vacation in the mountains!
Spring is in a sense the messenger of the restart. Everything is in bloom, winter is saying goodbye to the summer break even in the mountains of Saalbach, and everything is about to start afresh. Of course, yoga is perfect for that. Mountain spring and a "rejuvenation".
Despite the background in distant India, practicing yoga feels really good in the Austrian Alps. And really soothing. Because the clear mountain air floods the lungs with every move and the views let you rest in your midst.
Yoga is not just a movement with breathing and meditation content, yoga is more of an attitude to life and to oneself. Respectful and loving. Sometimes it feels good to look at yourself.
... or at least Daniela and Gunter love to stretch heavenwards during the alpine yoga sessions. Because our Gunter is also a yoga teacher and shares his knowledge with the guests several times a week. Then it goes up to the alpine meadow and together in exercises such as "looking down dog", "Sun Salutation" and "Scorpio" high above Saalbach start the day.
Body emphasis is given to Hatha Yoga. Because "Hatha" means translated: strength, endurance, energy. This direction of practicing is sporty and modern and is commonly referred as yoga in the Western world.
This type of yoga was first developed in the early 1980s and combines body-focused exercises with pranayamas - the breathing exercises. This includes numerous seminars and other lessons.
This sporty type of hatha yoga combines the individual asanas with jumps and is usually combined with a sweaty Ujjayi breathing. This type of breathing is also called "laryngeal breathing".
Swami Satchidananda founded this form of yoga combining body postures, deep relaxation, breathing exercises and meditation as well as positive thinking.
Yoga is nowadays available in countless different versions. The result, however, is the same for all: to find inner peace and purify the mind.
If you are in the mood for a very special yoga session or would just like to try yoga, you should take a look at our yoga teacher Gunter and ask him for a session.
Because inner peace and the mountains of Saalbach harmonize splendidly!
