A holiday with eva in Saalbach is not just a dream holiday on site, we are always there for you.

And off we go with TIP no. 1.

A leisurely start from the end of the valley in Hinterglemm takes you up to the Triestkogel, a very impressive mountain in the beautiful Glemmtal valley with an incredibly beautiful view. It's best to take part in a sunrise hike for a spectacular, memorable experience. The summit of the Triestkogel lies at 2080 metres and has a very distinctive summit cross. You should be sure-footed and have a head for heights - this tour is worth every step. If you feel like it, you could extend your tour via the picturesque Hochtorsee lake, a wonderful detour and an additional highlight.

TIP No. 1 from our chef Michael.

Soup is always an option, but not just any soup. Kaspressknödelsuppe (cheese dumpling soup) is something very special and unique in Austria. Flavoursome and prepared with Pinzgau cheese, which really stretches when the lovely little dumpling is pierced - hmm. TIP: Choose a mixture of cheeses to make the dumplings really flavoursome and tasty. It's best to use beer cheese, Pinzgau cheese and mountain cheese, then add onions, milk, eggs and dumpling bread, a little flour and you're ready to start moulding the little treats. It's best to season them with salt, pepper and nutmeg and, of course, fresh parsley. Fry the small patties in clarified butter until golden brown on both sides.

TIP No. 2 - The Paschweg

If you fancy walking along a wall path where you won't see any cyclists and there isn't much else going on, then the Paschweg is just right for you. It leads through forests and meadows, far away from the classic and much-travelled paths and it is not possible to cycle there. The trail is really idyllic, varied and wildly romantic throughout. The best thing is that at the end it leads you to the Spielberghaus, where you will have earned a hearty snack.

TIP No. 3 - Speicherteich Gerstreit

Hey, this week head to the refreshing Speicherteich Gerstreit near the Westgipfelbahn. A cool, refreshing reservoir is perfect for the heat! The reservoir was built to supply the snowmaking systems for the southern slopes of Saalbach-Hinterglemm. Is there anything better than dipping your feet into the cold, crystal-clear water? Take a deep breath and enjoy the fresh air. Experience the wonderful hike to Speicherteich Gerstreit! Use your included Joker Card to enjoy a cool and free ride on the Westgipfelbahn.

TIP No. 4 - Forest Wellness

...can't see the wood for the trees?

With forest wellness & yoga, this saying takes on a whole new meaning. The trees, their crowns and strong roots give you strength, energy, good and healthy air and numerous relaxing and soothing moments. Hammocks, yoga platforms, picnic areas and lots of magic welcome and touch you.

It is not only medicine that has discovered the forest as a remedy, but also countless scientists. The forest, its magical energy, the strong roots and the treetops reaching into the sky provide unspeakable powers for body, soul and spirit. It gives you confidence and positive thoughts, and simply walking in the forest strengthens your immune system and your mental balance.

TIP No. 5 - Your personal hut tip

Oh how beautiful it is at the Panorama Alm in Saalbach. You have the opportunity to take the Kohlmaisbahn cable car almost directly to the hut and yet you are in a wonderful secluded location in the middle of the mountains with a fantastic panorama over the entire Glemmtal valley. From the eva,VILLAGE in the heart of Saalbach, you also have the option of reaching the alpine hut, which lies at 1,650 metres above sea level, on foot in around an hour. A wonderful hiking trail leads directly to the hut and is wonderfully accessible for all levels of difficulty. Once there, you can lie down in a deckchair by the cosy bathing pond and chill out before enjoying the delicious regional cuisine on the large, inviting sun terrace.

TIP No. 6 - Eva, Apple Strudel

Imagine a warm, fragrant apple strudel: crispy, buttery dough enveloping juicy apples refined with cinnamon and brown sugar. When you cut into it, the tempting filling is revealed, steaming seductively. Every bite combines the tender dough layer with the aromatic, sweet apple filling, topped with a light dusting of powdered sugar. The harmonious flavor and delicate mouthfeel make your mouth water and turn every moment into a pleasurable experience.

Ingredients and Preparation:

Fresh, Juicy Apples:
We use only the best, fresh apples; our favorite variety for the strudel is Boskop, to ensure every bite is juicy and aromatic.

Rum-Soaked Raisins:
Our raisins are soaked in a mixture of sugar syrup and fine rum to give them additional depth of flavor.

Breadcrumbs:
A little breadcrumbs ensure the perfect binding of the filling and keep it nicely together.

Strudel Dough:
Tradition is important to us, so we use classic strudel dough instead of puff pastry. This gives our apple strudel the right texture and authentic taste that you expect from a real apple strudel.

Preparation:

  1. Peel and Slice Apples:
Peel, core, and thinly slice the fresh apples.

  2. Prepare Raisins:
Soak the raisins in rum for several hours (preferably overnight) to absorb the flavor and become plump again.

  3. Mix Filling:
Carefully combine the apples, rum-soaked raisins, and breadcrumbs. Lightly sweeten the mixture with sugar, vanilla sugar, and cinnamon to taste.

  4. Roll Out Strudel Dough:
Roll out the strudel dough thinly and spread the apple filling evenly over it.

  5. Bake:
Carefully roll the strudel, generously butter it, and bake until golden brown.

  6. Serve:
Serve our apple strudel warm, often accompanied by a scoop of vanilla ice cream, warm vanilla sauce, or a dollop of whipped cream to perfect the experience. Each bite perfectly showcases the juicy apples, aromatic rum-soaked raisins, and the crispy strudel dough.
