HIKING TIP: SUNRISE HIKE TO THE TRISTKOGEL

The early bird catches the worm. In autumn in Saalbach in the truest sense of the word! Because autumn time is hiking time. An alpine jewel as the seasons change.

In winter, the Skicircus is on everyone's lips. But also in summer and autumn  you can rightly speak of the hiking circus Saalbach Hinterglemm. Stable weather conditions and 400 kilometers of signposted paths make a hiker's heart pound. In addition, 40 alpine huts offer traditional delicacies.

Especially long-distance hikes such as the Seven Summits can be realized in the period of autumn. In this time you enjoy fresh mountain air with endless views.

Due to the slightly shorter days, sunrise hikes have become very popular in autumn. A hotspot of alpine morning sports is the Tristkogel in the valley of Saalbach Hinterglemm. A summit with epic views and a perfect selfie spot for #evamoments.

HIKING TIP: SUNRISE HIKE TO THE TRISTKOGEL

First of all, you drive to the parking lot in Lengau by car or by bus. It’s located at the end of the paved Glemmtaler state road.
This is followed by a leisurely hike to the Lindlingalm. You can make out the outlines of a rustic hut. Accordingly, you pass the shadowy hut in the direction of Ossmannalm, before you turn into the narrow mountain trail towards Tristkogel. On a well maintained trail it goes up to the Saaljoch. It is already getting lighter. The perplexed looks of grazing cows on the pasture accompany the hikers. The summit of the Tristkogel rises now majestically. The rising sun is still far away, but dips the summit into a timid orange light.

At the Saaljoch you could also walk other variants: Sonnspitze, Spieleck Kogel and many other recommended hikes.

The ascent to the Tristkogel requires a certain degree of surefootedness, but shouldn’t be an obstacle for an experienced hiker.
Now it is steep but fortunately entertaining. This view on 2.096 meters above sea level should be earned. The summit is reached.
Just in time to experience the natural spectacle. First, the ridge of the valley is illuminated, slowly the powerful sunbeams make their way down the valley and enlighten you and the summit. Memorable, unforgettable and worth every effort.
It’s time for a snack. It tastes nice up here and while you nibble on apple slices and bread rolls  you gaze at the scenery. Silent watching has something meditative up here. It also justifies the effort of getting up early for this summit.

The descent is usually the same way back, but our sports and vitality coach Gunter prefers the descent via the Bürgl back to Lindlingalm, which is now also awakened. Before that, you can hike the Pfandebene, a great high plateau, which is marked by a permanent long-distance view.
From the Lindlingalm you can take the slow train back to the parking lot before returning to the eva, in the center of Saalbach.

Have fun with this tour!
